About Our Dojo
In 1995 Vargas Bushi-Te Dojo was started by Rodney Vargas Sensei to offer the residents of Paterson and the surrounding areas JKA style of Shotokan Karate-Do. Instruction was originally offered in the cafeteria of St. Anthony's Church.
due to not having access when necessary we were forced to search for a storefront location. With the help of my brother Mark Vargas Sensei (pictured below),
and my son Sensei Rodney Vargas Jr (pictured above and below), we open our Vargas Bushi-Te Dojo located on 33rd Street in Paterson NJ in 1996. Below you can see a few of our students after our annual awards class.
In March of 2004 we relocated to Little Ferry NJ. We are always interested in starting new Karate clubs or self-defence programs in other locations, anyone wishing to contact us may do so by E-mail at VargasDojo@yahoo.com or by regular mail sent to: Vargas Shotokan Karate PO Box 22 Bogota NJ 07603.
As of June 2005 we are no longer offering classes at the Little Ferry location, starting September we will be teaching classes at St. Theresa’s Church located on 33rd St. a block away from our old Paterson store front location.
